Michael FrangosMichael and Irene Frangos were members and supporters of the Metropolitan Society of Kardamylians. Captain Frangos served for many years as the Society's Treasurer and member on the Board of Directors. His sudden death on August 19, 1999 while on vacation in Kardamyla was a great loss for the Society.

In 2000, a scholarship fund was established in memory of Michael and Irene Frangos by their children George and Arlene Frangos, Anna and Peter Kontzamanis and John Frangos..

RULES and REGULATIONS

AWARDS:

 The family of the late Captain Michael and Irene Frangos has established and funded a Scholastic Award Program in memory of their parents. That scholastic award program named after the honorees Captain Michael & Irene Frangos provides qualified applicant with an award in the amount of $1000 in recognition of his/her academic achievements in commencing their college/university undergraduate studies. The award will be granted to the applicant with the highest score.

ELIGIBILITY:

1)   An applicant must be a member in good standing of the MSK as defined in Article III of the MSK Constitution and By-laws.

2)  An applicant must be a matriculated full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college or university in the U.S.A. for the current semester.

3)   An applicant must have achieved a SAT or equivalent exam grade of 1200 or better, prior to entering college or university. 

4)    An applicant must fulfill the minimum course requirements of a full-time matriculated student for his/her Freshman year. 

5)    The application must be accompanied with:

      Certified/official transcript from the attended college or university reflecting his/her current matriculated status.

           The certified/official SAT or Equivalent Exam grade report.

6)  The recipient of the Scholarship Award or his/her parent/guardian must be present to accept the Scholarship Award at the Scholarship Awards event.

7)    The date of presentation of the Scholarship Award(s) will be January 26, 2025, during the Society’s Vasilopita / Greek Letters  Celebration, at the Kardamylitiko Spiti.

The eligibility of all applicants will be determined by the MSK Scholarship Committee
